My Grandmother's Old Fashioned Butter Cake

The cake develops a wonderful crust during the baking and doesn't need frosting.

Ingredients

1 and 3/4 cups of granulated sugar
1 cup of sweet butter
2 cups of sifted flour
5 eggs

Cooking Instructions

Cream butter. Beat in the sugar until very creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Fold in the flour. Pour cake mixture into a buttered tube pan (9 inch) Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool and serve.
